The Big 3 On A Jet

So I’m sitting in my office cubicle having a debate with my co-worker about the auto industry bailout. I don’t think this is an issue where you can just have a straight right or wrong opinion. On the one hand we live in a capitalistic society where competition rules, on the other you have  3 companies that are so huge that if they fail they will take down a vast amount of companies down with them.  To people not in that industry your response maybe…meh it’s their fault for not keeping up. But what if it were the big 3 in your industry? Some would say that other companies would be OK because they have built there business around servicing some of the smaller mom and pop operations, but who do you think those companies sell to? So then I am watching CNN with my wife and see this bull…. [Read the rest of this entry...]

Peculiar News From the Obama Transition Team

http://imgsrv.kcbs.com/image/kcbs/UserFiles/Image/presidentelectgraphic.jpg

Ever since Obama was named the president-elect, I have been intently following all the talk about his transition to power. From the first announcement of Rahm Emanuel as White House Chief of Staff to his first post-election press conference, I’ve been paying close attention. In watching and reading the coverage of the Obama transition, there were a couple of things that made me scratch my head.

Obama, Opening Doors Already

Yesterday, CNN reported that President-Elect Obama has chosen Eric Holder to be his Attorney General.  This selection makes Eric Holder the first African-American Attorney General.  He served as deputy attorney general in the Clinton Administration.

Thus, the “trickle-down effect” begins.  It’s our time to shine……  And when I say “our,” I don’t mean Black politicians, celebrities, and athletes.  I mean every single Black person in America.  We all have a responsibility to restore and uphold the respect of our community.  We waited 300 years for this opportunity…… let’s not mess it up.

Hating on Kanye……It’s So Easy

People who know me understand that I am by no means a fan of Kanye West.  To put it bluntly, I think he simply “sucks as a person.”  His music is okay, but I cannot support someone as egotistical as “Mr. West.”  Why am I saying this today……well it all stems from a recent interview, in which Kanye makes an outlandish claim.

Bankrupting the KKK?

A few years ago, in Brandenberg, Kentucky, a 16-year-old Panamanian boy was severely beaten by two Ku Klux Klansmen, the biggest of which was 6′ 5″ tall and weighed 300 pounds.  The boy was called names, spat on, doused with alcohol, knocked to the ground and beaten.  Once it was all over, the boy, Jordan Gruver had a broken jaw and left forearm, two cracked ribs, and several cuts and bruises.

Today, Gruver is fighting back, and hitting them where it hurts……their wallets.  Gruver is suing the Imperial Klans of America for 6 million dollars, a sum large enough to bankrupt the organization.  The Imperial Klans of America is the second largest KKK group after the Brotherhood of Klans.  It is based in Marion, Ohio, and has about 23 chapters in 17 states.

New Music: Ill Bill - My Uncle

This video really caught my attention initially because it was animated. I get excited anytime rap artists have the guts to try something different other than videos that show them doing things that make them look cool for 3 and half minutes and calling it entertainment. After clicking on the video I also realized that it was a conscious rap song. The artist is referring to his real life uncle and how his life went up and down and up and down during a battle with heroin addiction.
